Science or Zienze?

At start I wanted to put the sentence with a really easy to spot german accent. Now that I've changed the face from Ratzinger (pope of nowadays) into the one of equally fame Ronald MC Donald,
I don't know if it still work the german accent, surely I don't expect a comment by my many followers (which are none). The differences between the photo is very little:

Still tons of doubt, and I'll be honest, I want a fucking 1st class this time!

With love

MC Pope?

I was planning around with the ideas, and I started to do something on photoshop, just to see if some ideas where realizable, and this is what came out!

I wonder now if it easy to understand, and if make sense for people. I wanted to highlight a fact that I realized yesterday night (while I was kinda tipsy after a bday party), Church looks like a proper multinational, like Mc donald and so on. In fact it does get rich thanks to people that believe in that, the figure of Ronald MCdonald is just to represent the multinational company. Surely it needs to be finished, lot of work on it and see if the whole works properly.

Does that book teach you more than the Bible?

Finally, after few weeks, I was able to get the Banksy book "Wall and Piece". What I think about it? Well I think that this book is a lot deeper than I thought, and that Banksy must be really cultured. In his book there are lots of references to historical fact, he really know his stuff. References from letter of english soldier, and the way all the book is based is comedy, and with other sentences brake the stereotypes of the society, and as well the way of thinking that generally people use. As he said in his book, I'm sure he "Think from outside the box, collapse the box and take a fucking sharp knife to it." Also all the visuals were astonishing. I think this book is able to teach to the reader more about the modern society and his focus on money, appearance and injustice far more better than everything I put my hand on at the moment. Its directness and its simplicity deliver the message at the light-speed. I really enjoyed reading it, this book change the way in which Banksy looked to me, I see him under a different light now, a more awesome one.

Carry on my wayward son

A ne problem occur to me during the night. I have now problem with the fact to implement two different messages in the image, the one about the hypocrisy of the pope and the problem with the child abuse. I have started to wonder if, the fact that I implement two messages have the opposite effect of what I want. It could happen in fact that, instead of giving a stronger meaning and message to the image, the double message, would make them both weaker. I'm gonna have a chat with John about it on friday. I have the sensation that, the kid in the image would make just confusion, it would work good if both of the message  worked alone, but if John will agree with me on the fact that the kid make the message weaker I'll take him (the kid) out, because the sentence is the assignment.
Whatever happens, everything is dust in the wind.

Will I burn in Hell?

I've made few sketch, not about the idea of the animal, and I realize that  I've started to descend a dark path! So now the new sketch are kinda of stronger, and they do not attack only the hypocrisy of church, but the dark side of it as well. The big (and tragic) problem of priest and children. In fact this pope, for a certain amount of time, have hided this kinda fact from the church followers. It could look kinda strong, but in my new sketch there is the pope giving a child a lollipop, and I haven't decided yet if it is the kid itself who frighten him with the gun, or maybe a third person who was there just for a particular case. At the moment the pope look like shit, but the kid is (strangely enough) really good.
Fuck I should start to scan this shit!

Like a Prayer?

New chat with the teacher, that agree with my initial idea that use the rat like Banksy would be more "copy" his style rather than "use" his style, so we are back to the normal image of the pope. There is always the opportunity to make it a little more stylized, chose a different animal that could characterize more the hypocrisies of the pope and the church itself lately (or we can say almost always). John also show me some works of others artists that could be helpful for my work. Generally I'm the first that is willing to exaggerate something in order to show a strong concept, but the photo "Piss on Jesus" that John show me is kinda really strong.

The video of Madonna instead (like a prayer) is the kind of thing that could work perfectly for my work.

I also want to work more on the idea of representing  the pope with a different animal, something that would be clear to understand with his double meaning.
I'm still working on that idea at the moment, I ll do more sketch later.

New Ideas , same ideas

Well, after have searched for the Pope reference photo, and drew him few time (yea, it felt kinda weird) I'm always more sure about the idea itself. I've started to experiment different poses of him, and different outfits and accessories (yea, it does sounds strange). Than,in one of the worst hangover of my life, I've thought that would be cool try to draw, instead of the pope, the most known symbol of Banksy, the rat. I drew him with a Pope outfit, and used some black artist pen, trying to achieve the "stencil" effect. It did result kinda of cool indeed. But would that be just copy his style, or it would be using it?
I also showed my old sketched to John (most probably the only person who will read this blog), who seems to like the idea, and was able to recognize the Pope kinda fast. The only thing that worried me is the fact that, if I show my sketches to him, the "surprise effect" could vanish, and delete the "instantaneous laugh" that the picture is intended for. So now there is the moral dilemma, should I or shouldn't I, show him the final product before the deadline?

Epiphany

Yesterday night while I was going to sleep I got an Epiphany. I have started to do some sketches of few Ideas, I have no scanner at the moment, so I'm not able to put it up here. The idea is really basic, and in this case I'm using Banksy and the quote "Don't Shoot me !! I'm on the science team" with the representation of the pope terrified laying on the floor. This I mage would be on the hypocrisy of the church, and the pope itself. I'm not against religions or the pope himself, I grew up as a catholic man, but I'm not practicing  atm (and I think that Vatican is one of the few think that represent hypocrisy the best in the world).
I dunno it is an early stage, but I found it a cool idea, that cold be funny at various levels. I also have few ideas for the color, but I'm still open to every ideas that could arrive and be better.

Disappointment

Disappointment is the first word comes to my mind after have seen the movie "exit trough the gift shop".
How was the movie? It was cool, I really enjoyed it, so why am I disappointed? I was expecting and entire documentary on Banksy, not on Thierry fucking Guetta. It was really cool movie, but I was oping to see more about the artist I've choose. It was cool as well because I went to Los Angeles almost immediately the Art show made on the 2008 by "Mr Brain Wash" and I actually have a lot of those picture take with my own camera.  Still, something leaved me not satisfied, but it actually helped me on understand better the character Banksy. What I've understood? That he is the right choice, in fact, I think that those kind of people make our own life a little bit better with their way of acting, and see the life itself. I've understood that banksy is a man to admire when he said "At this point a lot of money start to arrive from my art. But this is not the point, money never have been the point of my work". In my opinion is easy to "spot" this aspect of him in his own work, in which I've found a little bit of punk ideas. In the documentary itself, street art is proclaimed as the biggest street movement in time after punk. I think that even in some piece there is no actually a punk message, the base of that kinda of acting still punk, against the rules, outlaw and dangerous. That was that captured the attention of Thierri Guetta, and mine as well. I've done, in fact, few graffitti when I was younger (not good art at all) but it wasn't just scribble on a wall, was to create something that people could recognize. I think as well, that Guetta have used the street art in a wrong way. He used just for commercial purposes, loosing in that way the soul\principles of street art. He sounded to, at the start of the documentary a cool dude, becoming always more and more "dick" in the last 20 minutes. There is a massive difference in fact from him and Banksy. the second in fact, try to deliver a message, depending on the location, time and other factors, he is able to send a message to whoever is watching the art he has made. Thats why I'm sure about him as my choice in my assignment.

My first time

Like all the firsts times, I'll be quick, clumsy and probably without a real conclusion. I never used a blog so will see how it goes. For the assignment I've started taking a look to the artists, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna choose Banksy for his unique style and for his political Ideas. I really like the fact that he take the piss out of the politics and the the world as we know it (in its hypocrisy). For the quote I really like the Half-Life quote "Don't shoot! I'm with the science team!!".
Nothing is for sure, but thats where I'm "going" at the moment.

I apology for the grammatical error that I've done, and for the tons I'll do.
